Steve Chmelar is fumming over how the “foam finger” that he invented back in 1971 that is widely popular at sporting events across the country is now being used as an over-sized dildo for Miley Cyrus in her free time or while she’s performing in front of millions of people. Cyrus recently twerked on the finger during her recent televised performance alongside singer Robin Thicke at the MTV Video Music Awards wearing a latex get-up that would even put Prince’s bootyless pants to shame..

“She took an honorable icon that is seen in sporting venues everywhere and degraded it, fortunately, the foam finger has been around long enough that it will survive this incident.”
“For people who like that kind of entertainment, I’m sure that it met their needs, as for Miley Cyrus, let’s hope she can outlive this event and also survive.” -Steve Chmelar
Several years after Chmelar created his original No. 1 finger, a man named Geral Fauss … created the first foam finger and began selling them at the 1978 Cotton Bowl game. Chmelar said he has never spoken with Fauss, but that he believes it was his creation that inspired the digit we all know today.(FoxSports)
The foam finger Miley wore was created by Lisa Katnic for an editorial shoot, but was not used. It eventually made an appearance in the Robin Thicke’s music video for “Blurred Lines,” and then in Cyrus’ performance with Thicke of the same song. According to Katnic’s comments on Instagram, Cyrus was such a fan of the foam finger that she took it home with her.(UPI)
